A Message from the Principal
Dear SJA Supporters,
It’s hard to believe, but it’s that time of the year again- the beginning of a new school year. We are thrilled to be back! And while not all of you are part of our daily happenings, we know your thoughts and prayers are with us as we start a new chapter.
This year our dedicated teachers are working in Communities of Practice, which focus on SMART goals in differentiation and student affect that include behaviors for success. Along with our day to day best practice approaches, we are committed to routine classroom walkthroughs as a vehicle to better facilitate classroom instruction that works!
Our Freshwomen Academy’s focus on high academics and placement testing was met with phenomenal participation from our new students. Our four day camp incorporated student placement testing, academic achievement, positive student behaviors, and service, which all lead to a tenure of student academic
success. Our student transfer class, which is new this year, has incorporated objectives designed to assist transfers students as they begin their year and subsequently graduate from SJA.
There is a lot of excitement ahead of us, including work in our STEM Task Force and further collaboration with MSOE. Both committees will look at recruitment practices, student mentors, course offerings geared toward advanced science, technology, engineering and math and college courses for credit! Our meetings have been very productive, and I look forward to sharing those exciting initiatives with you.
In closing, I am encouraged with the start of our year. There are wonderful students that embrace our mission and vision for student achievement each day and are an inspiration to all of us. Thank you for your continued commitment and support of SJA. I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful, educational environment.
Sincerely,
Maria Schram
Principal
